Building the future together: results of the project “Preparing schools for social cohesion”

Training

Last month, we completed the year-long project “Preparing Schools for Social Cohesion,” which we implemented jointly with GIZ Ukraine as part of the EU4ResilientRegions Special Support Program for Ukraine, funded by the German government. The project covered seven regions of Ukraine: Chernihiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Mykolaiv.

We are happy to share its results:

  • 33 child-friendly spaces have been created in seven regions of Ukraine;
  • 2,986 schoolchildren received psychosocial support through participation in MHPSS classes;
  • 210 teachers were trained in the Movement, Games, Sports and Creativity methodology;
  • 2,065 parents attended positive parenting classes;
  • 1,419 adult community members learned how to use non-conflict communication in everyday life;
  • 153 professionals working in the field of child protection gained knowledge on children's rights and access to justice for minors.

What's next?  The demand for further activities remains high. Parents are ready to dive deeper into the topics of positive parenting, and communities support the idea of continuing to work on children's rights and access to justice. We also receive requests for similar projects from neighboring communities. We are confident that this is just the beginning of a long journey to create a safe and child-friendly environment in Ukrainian schools.

We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to this important cause. New challenges and opportunities to support children, families and communities lie ahead!
