Consultation session for government officials "Children left behind as a result of parental labor migration: policy recommendations"

The main goal of the project is to CASTLE is to support transnational families with children who have been left behind as a result of labor migration of one or both parents, and to ensure their social protection in this context.

So, we recently organized a consultation session on "Children left behind due to parental labor migration: policy recommendations". It was attended by 17 representatives from children's services, social policy departments and offices, as well as social service centers in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions.

The event presented the results of the work of parent groups that actively participated in discussing problems and finding solutions for children who have been left behind, children's creative initiatives developed using the YouCreate methodology, which helps children and youth develop creative thinking and self-expression. As well as basic recommendations for professionals working with families and children in communities to support and protect them in the context of border crossing, family policy and legal support.

The study of transnational families was conducted by three academic institutions in Ukraine and Moldova - Babes Baiai University of Cluj (Romania), Academy of Economic Research of Moldova and Ukrainian Institute for Social Studies named after O. Yaremenko.

Based on the research and Tdh's experience, recommendations for the authorities on policies aimed at improving conditions for children who are separated from their parents due to labor migration were formulated, which can be viewed at the link https://bit.ly/3QNmLId
