Joint efforts for the well-being of children

Bringing people together and helping children have always been important areas of work for Terre des Hommes Foundation in Ukraine. The project "Preparing Schools for Social Cohesion", which was launched in the summer of 2023, contributes to the development of these qualities in the communities that have hosted IDPs. The first results of the residents' cooperation are already visible in the city of Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast.

As part of the project, to create a child-friendly space, Pryluky Lyceum №5 proposed to combine two small classrooms into one large one. But from the side of the corridor, these rooms had a very slick wall with ordinary glass. It was dangerous, so a metal-plastic, modern structure had to be installed instead. But the cost of the new partition far exceeded the budget provided by Tdh. So the lyceum turned to the local education department for financial assistance.

Thanks to the cooperation of educators and local authorities, the lyceum received a new partition, so the child-friendly space is being equipped. And soon the room will be ready to receive children for psychosocial classes. Half of the funds for repairs and construction materials were obtained from the local budget. The other part of the costs was covered by the TDH Foundation.

This is how citizens contribute to the well-being and a better future for themselves and their children through joint efforts.

The project is implemented by the Terre des Hommes Foundation in Ukraine with the financial support of the EU4ResilientRegions - Special Assistance to Ukraine Program, implemented by the German Federal Company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government.
