Labor migration perceived by children and youth

CASTLE

As part of the CASTLE project, five teams from Kolomyia, Verkhnia, Bohorodchany, Dolyna, and Horodenka presented their creative initiatives to raise awareness of labor migration and its impact on children left behind.

Each of the teams spent several months creating a video that would reveal the positive and negative consequences of parents' labor migration abroad and would become their voice on this important issue. The prerequisite for this event was the YouCreate training that took place last December. The children and youth participating in the project have also experienced the impact of migration, as their parents work or have previously worked in EU countries.

"I'm glad to be a part of this project, and thanks to it, I realized that labor migration exists and, unfortunately, will continue. But this issue needs to be addressed. And out of a lack of understanding of what needs to be done, parents go to work abroad to provide for their children and give them a good life. It is important to understand that a good and quality life for a child begins first and foremost with whether he or she receives enough love and attention," Yulia, a student at Bohorodchany Lyceum.

Therefore, we would like to present some initiatives of young people that will show how the labor migration of parents really affects children and why it is worth keeping in close touch with each other during the migration.
