As part of the ProAction project, we are creating learning spaces for children and youth to give them better access to educational services

Opening up space

Recently, such a learning space was created in Kosiv at the Kosiv School of Art, which is an example of effective cooperation between local authorities and Tdh. Budgetary funds were allocated for the renovation of the premises, and students of the local vocational college were involved in creating a modern design and wall painting.

Also, on the eve of the opening of the space, we involved more than 70 children (including IDPs) in a focus group study in Ivano-Frankivsk region to take into account their opinions and needs, how they see the modern space, and what activities would be interesting for them. So, in their opinion, the educational space

  • should take into account educational needs, promote emotional relief,
  • create a variety of opportunities for different types of activities
  • and motivate children and youth in the community to study.

In total, together with the project partners, 30 spaces have been created in Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Dnipro regions to improve access to education for children and youth, create a place for communication and psychosocial development. The space facilitators have the tools and knowledge to conduct psychosocial sessions with school-age children and youth.

"This is the only space in the community where young people can hold meetings, study, trainings, and watch movies without any obstacles at any time. Thanks to Tdh, this room is equipped with computer equipment and will be furnished. We sincerely hope that this space will become the heart of the youth life of the community, because today we have to think about the future of our city and the community as a whole," says Iryna Dymbrovska, Chief Specialist of the Department of Promotion, Communications and Economic Development of Kosiv City Council.

The project "ProAction - Improving Access to Housing, Education and Quality Social Services for Children and Families in Ukraine" is implemented by five partner organizations - Terre des hommes Foundation in Ukraine, CF "Zakhid Chance", CF "Posmishka UA", NGO "World in Colors" and NGO "Rehabilitation and Recovery Center", with funding from the Swiss Solidarity Foundation.
