On April 11 and 12, we visited the opening of the spaces in Sosnytsia and Nosivka, where local children are already coming to learn new skills and receive psychosocial support.
Each of these spaces is a unique, safe and interactive place. Tdh-trained facilitators conduct classes with children using the Movement, Games, Sports and Creativity methodology to ease their psycho-emotional state and engage them in playful activities.
The opening of the spaces was also attended by Andrii Portnyi, Head of the Sosnytsia community, and Iryna Kalchenko, Head of the Education Department, Viktoriia Vershniak, Deputy Mayor of Nosivka, and Nataliia Tonkonoh, Head of the Education Department, who have been involved in the process of organizing and creating spaces in their communities throughout the project.
As a reminder, the project has created and equipped 33 child-friendly spaces in Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Odesa oblasts.
The project “Preparing schools to be sites of social cohesion” is implemented by Terre des hommes Foundation in Ukraine with the support of the EU4ResilientRegions - Special Assistance to Ukraine project, implemented by the German Federal Company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government.
