Last week, we organized a training for facilitators of the mobile teams of the Smile UA and Yellow-Blue Wings charity foundations to give them practical skills to work with children and parents and provide psychosocial support.
Over the course of four days, the participants learned about the "Movement, Games, Sports, Creativity" methodology, the concept of playgrounds, created projects of safe spaces for children at educational institutions, and learned how to plan and conduct psychosocial activities as part of the work of mobile teams.
"This is an event that structures the mobile team's understanding of how to work with children. Previously, we had no idea whether there was room for creativity or whether we could add something of our own. But now we realize that it is possible, because there is a methodology that can be adapted to specific activities. We are grateful for the friendly atmosphere and the trainers who structured the event in such a way that the information is accessible. Each of us was charged with motivation, which we will use when working with children," says Oleksandr Gudkov, representative of the Yellow and Blue Wings Charity Foundation.
Starting next week, the mobile teams will begin their visits to Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Zakarpattia regions to conduct psychosocial activities with children, youth and their parents.
The project "Strengthening the protection of internally displaced children, the most vulnerable girls and boys, in four oblasts in Western Ukraine" is being implemented by the Western Ukrainian Child Protection Consortium, which includes Terre des Hommes Foundation in Ukraine, Smile UA and Yellow-Blue Wings, with the support of the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.
