Why is it important to develop case management in communities and how does it help families with children in crisis?

Training

During the training "Case management in child protection" held on February 19-20, 29 social work professionals from Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro and Ivano-Frankivsk regions had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the concept of case management, child protection in emergencies, as well as the principles and ethical aspects of case management.

Special attention during the training was paid to case management in the context of gender-based violence, addressing important issues of separated and unaccompanied children. In addition, together with a psychologist, the FSR studied effective methods of dealing with stress and professional burnout.

The participants also learned about:

  • Identification and determination of risk/protection factors;
  • Assessing the needs of a child and working with a case;
  • Preventing professional burnout and taking care of employees;
  • Case plan and work with the case;
  • Case plan implementation and monitoring;
  • Case closure and documentation, information protection.

"I really enjoyed the training from the very beginning. We had a lot of practical exercises and I deepened my knowledge and skills in this area for further application in my work. I also really liked the real-life examples that showed very clearly how things were and what needed to be done. This, I think, is the most correct way to get information when you have the opportunity to get real practice and are involved in all processes," Iryna Adamovych, case management specialist at Tdh.

The project "ProAction - Improving Access to Housing, Education and Quality Social Services for Children and Families in Ukraine" is implemented by five partner organizations - Terre des Hommes Foundation in Ukraine, Charity Foundation "West Chance", Charity Foundation Smile UA, NGO "World in Colors" and the Center for Rehabilitation and Recovery with funding from the Crisis Center and support from the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France France Diplomatie.
