In the regions affected by poverty caused by socio-economic reconfiguration, employment opportunities and income-generating activities or small businesses are very limited. In eastern Ukraine, close to the conflict zone, VEIs are aiming at the professionalisation of young people and their preparation for the labour market do not have modern material resources, do not have the possibility to equip youth with knowledge and professional skill relevant to the contemporary economic context.
Tdh started a project with the aim to improving the resilience of conflict affected people affected by promoting sustainable solutions for economic development in two regions of Ukraine - Luhansk and Donetsk.
Tdh works in these regions with other projects and the network of local partners is already functional. In all the 10 communities there are VEIs that offer training in various sectors: agriculture, forestry, mechanics, hairstyle, hotel services, cooking, agricultural mechanics etc.
Based on this we:
- hold life skills sessions for students of vocational institutions;
- supply vocational institutions by graphic stations with installed software for 3D modelling and prototyping;
- give young people access to this equipment and to the innovative program of business education, its methodological support, methodology and tools of Digital Fabrication;
- give grants for starting/developing small businesses/income generating activities by students of vocational institutions and their families:
- bring together a diversity of actors through Childhub platform that is designed, set up and promoted as a model of participatory dialogue facilitating employability and involving young people, families and communities.
- cultivate institutionalization in cooperation with the Regional Departments of Education and Science in Luhansk and Donetsk the entrepreneurial education program will be recommended to get embedded in the VEI curriculum sector-specific.
The project is implementing by Terre des hommes Foundation in Ukraine with the support of the Federation for International Cooperation and Development (Fédération vaudoise de coopération - FEDEVACO), Switzerland.
